I've
never been in therapy before. How does it work? Psychotherapy
is a structured dialog between the therapist and client
which explores patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behavior
to promote a happier and more satisfying life. Sessions
are 45 minutes long and usually scheduled weekly. Most clients
see meaningful improvement within 6 to 8 sessions.
The therapeutic relationship is a relationship of mutual
trust which is totally confidential. Fees are covered by
your health insurance plan.
What
credentials should I look for in choosing a therapist?
The American Medical Association recommends you choose a
therapist with an advanced degree from an accredited institution
who is licensed to practice in your state and who is a member
in good standing of at least one behavioral health professional
organization.
Henrietta Harrison is a summa cum laude graduate
with undergraduate and graduate degrees with Highest Honors.
She is licensed in Connecticut to practice psychotherapy
and is a Clinical Member (highest level) of the American
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Connecticut
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a Certified
Diplomate of The American Psychotherapy Association, and
was selected for inclusion in the Millennium Edition
of Who's Who in American Business.
I've been in therapy before
and although it felt good to have someone to talk to about
my problems, nothing really changed. I still have the same
problems I had years ago. Henrietta uses a solution-focused
approach. Her mission is to help you create lasting change;
so, she focuses on the here and now rather than the past,
on how to solve problems rather than why you have problems,
on what will work better rather than what isn't working
well.
Therapy is about change. Henrietta believes the way to have
a changed life is to make a change in your life. Her goal
is to help you figure out what changes to make and then
to help you make them.
There are so many therapists
to choose from. What distinguishes Henrietta Harrison from
other therapists I might choose? Henrietta is results
oriented. She brings a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to
therapy rooted in her many years of working in the Human
Relations industry; plus, the compassion and understanding
that comes from life experience as a wife and mother.
Henrietta's clients describe her as warm and caring, witty
and engaging, and someone who tells it like it is. They
say she challenges them to grow and change; but, also supports
and encourages them every step of the way. Her focused,
insightful approach gets to the core of the issues troubling
you.
